Weekend Caregiver — Part-Time Weekends and Full Time 2nd Shift

Weekend Caregiver — Part-Time (Full-Time 2nd Shift Available)

Do you want to work for an employer who holds you — and themselves — to a high standard?

At McKenzie's Mission, we don't cut corners, we don't settle for mediocre, and we don't hire just anyone. We are looking for people who take pride in their work, show up with purpose, and understand that the people in our care deserve nothing less than their very best.

Who we are

McKenzie's Mission is a faith-centered Adult Family Home dedicated to caring for individuals with disabilities. Our work is rooted in Christian values — compassion, dignity, and genuine service. We are a small, close-knit team that takes pride in the quality of care we provide, and we hold one another to a high standard. If you're looking for a place where the work is meaningful and the culture is grounded in something bigger than a paycheck, you may be the right fit.

This position is weekends only — Saturday and Sunday, evening shift. If you are seeking weekday work or a full-time schedule, this role is not a match. We ask that you apply only if weekend availability is a firm commitment, not a temporary arrangement.

Full-Time 2nd Shift Available

In addition to this weekend role, we are also actively hiring for full-time 2nd shift positions. Candidates interested in full-time evening work are encouraged to apply and indicate their availability in their application.

What the work looks like

Caring for our residents requires patience, physical stamina, attention to detail, and a servant's heart. This is not a passive role — you will be actively involved in residents' daily lives and wellbeing. On any given shift you may be:

Assisting with personal care — bathing, grooming, dressing, hygiene
Preparing meals and supporting residents during eating
Facilitating activities, exercise, and community engagement
Assisting with medication dispensing according to care plans
Performing household tasks: laundry and cleaning
Supporting residents' participation in church and community events
Maintaining accurate documentation and communicating with the team

What we're looking for

We care more about character than credentials, but candidates must bring both commitment and competence.

Genuine compassion for individuals with disabilities — not just a job, a calling
Dependability: you show up, on time, ready to work — every shift, every weekend
Willingness to do the hard and unglamorous parts of caregiving without complaint
Alignment with Christian values and the ability to model them in your daily interactions with residents and colleagues
Ability to guide and support residents in living an adult Christian lifestyle
High school diploma or equivalent required
Experience in disability or elder care preferred; CNA or CDCP certification a plus
Valid driver's license required
Strong communication skills and ability to work both independently and as part of a team

Our residents and our organization are represented in the community by the people on our team. We expect every staff member to conduct themselves with integrity, respect, and professionalism — on and off shift.

Who Should Not Apply

This role is not a fit for individuals who are:

  • Looking for a temporary job or inconsistent availability

  • Unwilling to work weekends as scheduled or unable to maintain reliable attendance

  • Not comfortable with hands-on personal care and physical caregiving tasks

  • Unaligned with a faith-centered, Christian care environment

  • Unwilling to work as part of a team or accept direction and feedback

  • Looking for a passive or low-engagement role

Physical requirements

Ability to stand and walk for at least 50% of each shift
Ability to lift up to 10 lbs. continuously, 20 lbs. frequently, and 50 lbs. occasionally
Must be able to document good health, including a negative TB test, and be free of communicable disease

Benefits

Paid orientation and training
Ongoing professional development opportunities
Consistent weekend schedule for work-life predictability
The deep, daily satisfaction of making a real difference in people's lives

A note before you apply
